The geometry of Moroccan zellij was one of our starting points. In Tessera, small forms come together in a repeating pattern, with just enough variation to keep the composition moving.
Some designs stay close to the forms that inspired them. Others take those forms apart and build something different.
From walls, arches, and proportions to lines, texture, and wool , the forms take on a different character here.
Line and spacing can change the way a pattern moves across a surface. Repetition gives the design rhythm, while the space between each element keeps it balanced.
